Cozy Up to the End of Summer in Swedish Loungewear by Our Legacy Work Shop x Magniberg

Our Legacy Work Shop x Magniberg—a bedwear brand conceived by a fashion designer and florist—is a Swedish doubleheader of a collaboration. 'We are good friends since many, many years back, and sometimes we come together and make small projects, and this is one of them that we are very proud of putting out there in the world,' OL's Jockum Hallin said. The new project is a 'downtime' capsule of loungewear (pajamas and robes) and home textiles (towels and bed clothes) that's perfect for easing into fall as summer slowly fades away. The transition between those seasons is especially marked in Sweden: By November, the sun sets at 3:40 p.m. in Stockholm, and temperatures are chilly. That bittersweet, melancholic mood of endings and beginnings—which Don Henley sings about in 'The Boys of Summer'—has been wonderfully captured for OLWS x Magniberg by photographer JH Engström, who chose a location not far from his own summer cottage in Varmland, a region known for its forests and lakes. 'I don't think I've ever seen more Swedish imagery,' Hallin noted. The capsule's long-sleeve T-shirts, 'flow' pants, and 'gelato bathrobes' come in 'sun-faded' tones of pearl gray, ochre, and sand, and are made of naturally dyed organic cotton. As the pieces are intended for late summer, the terry cloth is extra heavy, Hallin noted. Their enveloping substantiality is visible in the campaign, which was shot on film. Bengt Magniberg suggests there is an analog quality to the products, and Hallin agrees, noting that these pieces are 'homewares made in a homely way.' They are also all-purpose in the sense that they work in and out of nature. As Magniberg stated: 'Home doesn't necessarily need to be indoors'—which is most often the case in summer where all sorts of boundaries slip away and on vacation it's possible, as Hallin said, to 'poke around doing nothing, and you feel content and happy about a very slow life.' Slow, but open to adventure—as Magniberg says, the campaign is 'a little bit Astrid Lindgren.' Pippi Longstocking might, in fact, approve of this OLWS x Magniberg collaboration that celebrates, 'sleep and beach, the unworn hours of life.'
